A huge thank you to the Zembera family for their donation of a beautiful dogwood tree in memory of Leah that was planted at New Hyde Park Road School, Leah’s Elementary School by the custodial staff. The bricks were fundraised for by one of Leahs Road school teachers, Mr Riley and then were put in by Persi Contracting. A plaque will be placed in the fall of 2023 in dedication of Leah. Thank you to everyone involved.
Our foundation continues to support the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center in Hampton Bays We make donations in Leahs memory from the foundation. What a wonderful place this is where they rehabilitate so many different animals and release them back into the wild. Leah would be so happy to see how many animals her foundation is helping 💙💙
This year we gave out 3 scholarships to graduating Seniors from the New Hyde Park Memoral High School, Olivia Tomalska, Georgina Giannatsis and Kaitlyn Bell. These students were chosen by the scholarship committee and met all the criteria of someone who best represents who Leah was: kind, selfless, compassionate, involved, making a difference in the lives of others and students that don't go along with what is popular, but what is right. The students exemplified Leahs giving and caring ways and her love for life. Their involvement and love for Best Buddies was exactly what Leah cared so much about. Continue to do good deeds in Leah's memory and always remember to Make Every Second Count and Live More Kind. We wish them the best of luck in college and the future.
An award was established in Leah's name and given to a graduating 6th grader from Leah's Elementary School who best exemplified her giving and caring ways. This year Leah’s 3rd grade teacher, Mr Riley presented the 2024 Leah Kuczinski Legacy Award on behalf of our family to NHP Road School graduating 6th grader, Victoria Rodriguez-Baez. In choosing the recipient, the 6th grade teachers look for a student who embodies the attributes of kindness towards others, someone who is dedicated to making a difference in the world and a leader among their peers. Make Every Second Count and Live More Kind.
Leah loved participating in the Polar Bear Plunge in Long Beach to support the Make A Wish Foundation with her friends. “Leah's Legacy" team again had a great turnout. The foundation presented the team with a $5,000 donation on behalf of Leah's Legacy to Make A Wish.
Thank you to all who came out to support Make A Wish and to keep Leah's Legacy alive.
Please consider joining our team next year in support of Leahs Legacy and to help Make A Wish in her memory.
After years of not being able to have a fundraiser we finally were back at Leonards Palazzo of Great Neck, NY On March 6, 2023 for a fun night of dinner and dancing. It was a huge success and we would not have been able to do it without the generous donations of baskets, gift cards and prizes, the sponsorships and all the help from our friends and community that gave so much of their time to help out. We can't thank you all enough for everything. A special thank you to Jack LaSala For all his help year after year and his support in everything we do.
For Leah's Birthday, this year and for the past years and coming years, our Foundation has and will continue to sponsor meals at the Mary Brennan Inn in Hempstead. We helped out with preparing the meals and boxing them up for take out as well as in house eating, making sandwiches, sorting clothing in the new building for the donation room
For Leah's Birthday, this year and for the past years and coming years, our Foundation has and will continue to sponsor meals at the Mary Brennan Inn in Hempstead. We helped out with preparing the meals and boxing them up for take out as well as in house eating, making sandwiches, sorting clothing in the new building for the donation room that we sponsored that is open to the patrons and helped stock the food pantry as well as any other thing that were needed to help out.
We are looking forward to the coming years as we all know that Leah would have loved to be there with us helping out and giving back.
Through the sales of bracelets, a good friend of Leah, Casey Waldron, was able to raise enough money to purchase a bench and Crepe Myrtle tree in Leah's memory. It was placed on the New Hyde Park Memorial property by the Shack for all to see and remember Leah. SEPTA and the Best Buddies also dedicated 2 Butterfly Bushes and a beautiful plaque in Leah's name. We can't thank you enough for this beautiful dedication.
